Can I work in the USA?

Student visa regulations restrict the type and amount of paid work that international students can do while they attend school in the USA. Generally, you will be limited to working only in on-campus jobs for a maximum of 20 hours per week.

The Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, a U.S. government-approved program, allows international students who have completed a certificate or degree program at an American school to get paid work experience in their field of study for up to one year after they complete their program. The international student office at your school in the USA can help you apply for OPT before the end of your study program.

For more details about OPT, visit the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) website at: http://www.ice.gov/sevis/students/opt.htm
